If you live in an area that is prone to typhoons, then you should consider storing survival items in a typhoon emergency kit and bring this with you all the time. Whether you are at home or in your car, you can expect the typhoon emergency kit to help you survive a natural disaster.

Bear in mind that it will never be safe for you to be loitering around the city once typhoons strike and there is a great possibility that all convenience shops in your area are closed during this period of disaster.

A typhoon emergency kit will supply you with everything that you need during this difficult time.

What should be Stored in a Typhoon Emergency Kit?

If you are planning to create your own typhoon emergency kit, then it is advisable for you to create a checklist of all the items that you need.

You have to consider your own needs and the needs of your entire family to ensure that you never fail to include essential survival items in the typhoon emergency kit.

As a means to help you out, you should categorize all of the items that you need as follows:

1.  Food. Your typhoon emergency kit should contain food that is sufficient enough to make your entire family survive for more than three days.

Choose those foods that do not require cooking or those that are no longer required to be stored in your refrigerator. These include instant noodles, biscuits, canned goods, baked bread and peanuts.

You should also consider storing foods that can increase the level of your energy including jelly, peanut butter, trail mix, granola bars and crackers and comfort or stress foods such as hard candy, sweetened cereals, tea bags, instant coffee, cookies and lollipops in your typhoon emergency kit.

2.  Water. This is considered to be another essential item in your typhoon emergency kit. You should allot a gallon of water that is stored in a bottle for each member of your family every day.

A large container of water that can be easily carried for washing and refilling should also be present in your typhoon emergency kit. Just make sure that you use containers that do not easily decompose or break.

3.  Clothing. Your typhoon emergency kit should contain clothes that are designed to make you feel comfortable during a typhoon. Instead of packing heavy clothing for each member of your family, you should consider storing a number of clothes that are made out of light materials.

These clothes should be layered during typhoons to ensure that you are able to fight the cold weather.

It is also advisable for you to prepare the following items for each member of your family and store them in the typhoon emergency kit:  sturdy shoes or work boots, rain gear, blankets or sleeping bags, hat, gloves and thermal underwear.

4.  First Aid Supplies. You should never fail to include these supplies in your typhoon emergency kit so you can keep your family away from harmful illnesses and serious injuries during a typhoon.

The first aid kit should include items like sterile adhesive bandages, scissors, hypoallergenic adhesive tape, alcohol, antiseptic, gauze, needle, tweezers, antiseptic, burn ointment, thermometer, latex gloves, eyewash, pain relievers and prescription drugs.

5.  Emergency Supplies. These supplies should be included in your typhoon emergency kit to ensure that you avoid putting your entire family in danger once the electricity is lost due to typhoon.

The emergency supplies should include small rechargeable lamp or flashlight, extra batteries, rope, match or lighter, candle, whistle and dust mask. Your typhoon emergency kit should also contain a radio that can be operated by a battery so you will be updated with the latest news.
